Yeah I got screwed over with that too. When I was 19 I went to ITT Tech and they refused to give me any financial aid or grants. I worked minimum wage but they go off of your parents income and my mom didn't even work, yet I still didn't qualify(because they went back over a year and her $20 an hour apparently was too much money). I'd of probably graduated if they would of given it to me. They promised me that I didn't have to pay a dime on the loan until I graduated yet 5 months later they are hounding me and telling me that they sent my loan to collections and terminated my schooling.

Stop sucking on government teats and pay your own way. It can be done, it's not easy, but it can be done.

Sounds like someone needs to be a little more responsible.

Wait, so they wouldn't give you student loans anymore?

If you knew you were going to school you should have saved money. If you could not save anything, possibly you should have put off school.

You can still go to school by getting a job and by keeping it throughout school and paying for school with loans. This is the approach I am taking and the one everyone I know is taking.

QFT. I am still paying off my student loans and it sucks, but college is not mandatory and I chose to take out those loans. Unless your family falls under the % of people who are considered living under poverty, you should not get any grants. Even then, they should only help(not pay for all) you out the 1st year, and thats it.

You mean college isn't a "right" yet?
