You sound like you got your head screwed on right. Took a listen and it's not bad work. The problem is that it is not notable, either.

However, I am quite impressed that it sounds quite professional. It looks like it's fun to you, so that's good.

Pursuing rap is a tough proposition these days, especially if you want to cross over into the big leagues with national distribution and what-not.

What you need to do is make some legit songs using clips like "Bubb Rubb" and the "Leprechaun video". Those are hilarious! "The whistles go WOOOOO" or "Give me da gold!"

Most of the rap I hear is about how good someone is as an "MC", how they and their crew is tough and "hot", something about their home town, drinking/drugs, and about how "bitches" love them.

In addition, there is a lot of swearing which doesn't bother me, but it really lacks any substance. In place of a swear you oughta think of something more creative because it is not impressing anyone. I'd definitely keep going on the academic track. I would also be concerned what potential employers think of your image. I know if I was an employer and got a look at your myspace I'd think twice. You've got people on there talking about cops/drinking/driving, etc. Not something I'd want to bring into my company. Image is everything, and it would be wise to keep your professional image far apart from your rap image unless you're in the music business.

Pros: You have good, original beats.
Good delivery ie tonal inflections and alright flow.

Cons: Rhymes can be more complex.
Topics are trite.

I urge you to try and listen to other artists to develop your lyrical and rhyming abilities. Nas, Common, Guru, Immortal Technique, Aesop Rock are ones that come to mind. But you've definitely got talent, as much as any mainstream rapper out there.

Not bad man, but real talk I been rapping for 10 years now, I make about 100-200 a week from it, and thats hustling pretty good and not counting income from ASCAP or CD sales, just shows and hosting. Honestly unless you are in the .005% you wont make enough to afford a house or living expenses, thats why I work full time and my boss is cool enough to let me tour when we have to.

This sounds like a good answer if you're really serious about rapping.
