what the Dreamcast was trying to do was obvious. they knew PS2 and the xbox were gonna come out later that year, and stronger...so they hurried out as fast as they could to see if they could beat them out that way. i remember they were struggling to even get Manufactures to sign with them to make games, and once PS2 and the XBox dropped it was the end for them

I still to this day can't remember why I got a Dreamcast. I didn't know what I wanted one Xmas and just asked for that. The Shen Mue series and RE: Code Veronica made the whole thing worth it to me in the end.

Ya... Dragon Age Origins is incredible. Here's what I posted on the Dragon Age thread

Combat is similar to WOW, yet with pausing and switching between party members. Whoever said you just click is incorrect, as you can hotkey abilities as well. I'm used to that from when I played a lot of wow. I'd definitely suggest the pc version, as it's score is about 4-5 points higher on metacritic (92 right now), and i've heard the controls aren't as solid on the console. The codex is like the Tomb of Knowledge from WAR, which is something I'm glad is catching on in the rpg world. A very non-intrusive way to get backstory.
The game is very involved, and can be a bit much for those who aren't as into the story, but the story is very compelling. It's much, much more story driven than the sandbox Bethesda games.
My biggest complaint so far is no dialog from the main character, although there is a lot of dialog which would have made that a huge undertaking. But I find it harder to be an asshole in this than in Mass Effect, where Commander Shepard made being a douchebag so much fun.
So far this is game of the year for me by a fucking mile.

I really can't remember the last time I've been so engrossed in an rpg. One of the other reasons I don't want to be an asshole is because I actually care about how I effect the story. I find myself carefully choosing how I interact and anticipating what happens next. During the mage origin story I found myself feeling actual anxiety at the prospect of getting caught (won't spoil it). Can't stress enough how much I'm enjoying the game so far.
Those who love story driven and involved rpgs should love it (I normally don't, and I'm completely caught up in it).

I'll have to get this at some point. Bye bye real world for another month or two when I do, just like with Oblivion...

Meh...the "real world" is overrated.
I'm pretty excited for this game. I'll be picking it up for the PS3 Thursday. I wish I had a PC that would run it, though.

Uncharted ruined me for Demon's Souls. I can't enjoy this game. It seems boring compared to U2. I knew this shit was gonna happen.
Maybe I'll try out Infamous.

Too true. I can't use instant death spells on real people. Well, potions maybe...
