Great fuckin movie. I cant remember enjoying Tom Cruise in a role this much EVER. Just a solid film in many ways.
COLLATERAL is tops.

Im thinking about watching 'There will be Blood' tonight. What's the word here on this one?
Likely there will be something lost on a smaller format. BLOOD is made for the big screen. The scope and music really set the tone well in a theater.

That being said, it's a powerful character piece and DDL does a lot with it. That in and of itself is worth seeing over and over again. Highly quotable bravura performance.

But the movie itself is worth only seeing once. And that was it for me.

Congratulations on finally seeing the wonderful film that is Collateral. Not as good as Heat (no shame in that since Heat is a bona fide masterpiece) but easily Mann's second best and one of my favorite films.

Was the scene at Fever not one of the most adrenaline-filled action scenes in recent memory?

I've still yet to see this, but up to this point, my experience is as follows: "Movie" people say it's great and Daniel-Day Lewis was extraordinary, meanwhile "non-movie" people say it's slow and boring.

Do with that what you will. If/when you do see it, I'd be interested to hear your take since new movies aren't my priority at the moment and you'll most likely see it before I do.

i hate to bust in with a random recommendation but i read through a few pages of the thread and i felt that alot of you here would enjoy this movie

"The Lives of Others"
its also known as Leben der Anderen, Das
Its about the privacy before and after the fall of the Berlin wall. I dont want to explain too much but it's easily on my top 10 movies of all time list. It's quite long and there are no famous actors (to Americans atleast) but it was downright stunning and easily deserved best foreign over Pans Labyrnth. Be prepared for caption reading though

Same, a lot of people said it's boring and way too long. I was expecting that, but when I watched it, I loved every minute of it.

You don't watch that movie for drama or action, you watch it in aw of the writing, directing, music, acting, and just how well made and intersting it is. That movie could be stretched out for 4 hours and I would still love it.

I'm never objected to reading captions. I've heard wonderful things about this movie. I've got it in my Netfix Que, and I'll be seeing it soon enough. As far as it being better than Pan's Labyrinth that's a bold statement. PL is one of the best movies ever made in my book. I'll definitely give it a fair shake though.

Agreed Rambo IV was a very good movie w/ a statement to make about the genocide going on in Burma. I'd have to see some proof for the making of a 5th movie. I know a studio booked him on a 3 movie contract after the successes of Rambo IV, and Rocky Balboa, but I've seen nothing indicating that any of those movies will be conected to either of the classic characters from the past.

Blood was a great because of DDL. Period.

Good story, good cinematography, deep characters and all, but DDL is just brilliant. He truly is one of a kind in the business, IMO.

All in all the movie is pretty sad and I dont think id watch this type of film multiple times.

Now I really want to see Heat again. I remember it only vaguely and it seems to be very highly regarded.

It's in my top ten. I couldn't possibly say enough good things about Heat. Just a magnificent movie from every possible standpoint.
