It's literally not even up for debate: Awakenings is the saddest movie ever, and the fact that it's a true story makes it that much worse.

I've only watched it once because it's just so emotional. Cuckoo's Nest is great, Rain Man is great, but neither have shit on Awakenings, and neither Nicholson nor Hoffman matched De Niro's performance (which was passed over at the Oscars that year for Jeremy Irons in Reversal of Fortune).
I gotta throw a +1 on that as well. Awakenings is definitely a must-see masterpiece and De Niro deserved Best Actor for it.

I though The Kingdom was pretty good, even Jamie Foxx seems to be coming along somewhat..

Somewhat? Jamie Foxx is what we like to call under used talent. The guy can act. He needs to do more work. It's a shame that Stealth got held back and then released once he became credible, because it only did damage. The guy is good though.

I thought he was solid in Kingdom, can't say I've seen anything else of his.

Didn't expect him to be legit for some reason.

You're not alone in not anticipating his legitimacy. He's quality though. Check out Ali, Ray, and Collateral. Foxx represents in those movies to an impressive extent.

i can't comment of jamie foxx, because i've never seen him in a serious role. of those three, two are biopics of people who don't interest me much and the third is a tom cruise flick. meh maybe i'll watch that one though.

What really pisses me off is how because of Pirates Of The caribbean, u have all these people who claim Johnny Depp as their favorite actor.

he is my favorite actor but I accepted those movies for what they were.

My fav movies of his are Donnie Brasco,Ninth Gate, Blow,Ed Wood, Benny and Joon,Crybaby,

I feel he is the most diverse actor that can take on and excel in any role regardless. he can play the straight character excellently, the biopic character great and the oddball weird guy.

when u watch him, its hard to believe, almost impossible to see that Donnie Brasco is jack sparrow, tom Hanson is Sweeney Todd, his character in Gilbert Grape is Willy Wonka. the dude from Nick of Time is Edward Scissorhands.

he never plays the same guy twice and that is very very very rare.

I just looked it up and it's an animated film, so of course I haven't. I'm not trying to be close-minded intentionally; I'm just not at a point where I can appreciate animated films for anything more than cartoons, and I'm not too confident that I'll ever reach that point.

I'll continue to watch the occasional animated film, but I doubt I'll like any very much.

I remember thinking that looked interesting when it came out. My dad's been living in Arizona for the last few years and they were filming literally about five minutes from where he lived. In fact, IIRC, while they were there, one of the crew members died. I believe it was a car accident on set.

You haven't seen Collateral? You don't seem to care for Tom Cruise very much, but IMO, if there's a film out there that might take a little of the heat off of him, it's Collateral.

I've never been a big fan of his, especially recently since he hasn't done a "real" movie in years (the Pirates movies and Tim Burton's crapfests don't count). I'm really looking forward to Public Enemies to see A) Him in a real movie again and B) What kind of performance he'll turn in with someone like Michael Mann directing him.
