I liked Resurrection too, but I just didn't like 3. Worst of the bunch.

i see, i think the alien series can be graded in terms of the badass black supporting characters. parker > dillon > apone > christie, and thus alien > alien3 > aliens > resurrection.

lol@ alien 3 being better than aliens. Alien 3's gigantic plot holes (within the first 5 minutes no less) and the fact that Ripley lays out how the movie will end near the middle of the movie make it so bad I get fumed discussing it. Mostly because I didn't think the plot was that bad - I like the idea of a prison planet, Ripley being impregnated with an embryo and having to kill herself. But the plot was executed so bad, that the ending which they tried so hard for it to be epic and powerful but fails entirely. People say that it "remains closer to the original movie" which is complete garbage. The movie isn't scary, the movie isn't tense there is no suspense. However the set was great.

I once read that discussions for Alien 5 to be made, written by James Cameron and directed by Ridley Scott but Fox decided AvP would have been better instead.

Honestly, Tim Rothman over at FOX has to be the biggest idiot of "ALL-TIMES"

Genre's and sub genre's can be broken down very minutely. I think the aforementioned films fit more generally into the scifi genre than any other. If you want to break it down further I would have to disagree with your sub genre assessment.

Aliens- Horror
Blade Runner- noir
Star Wars- Western

I do agree w/ you on Blade Runner.
I call Star Wars a western, because it fits the mold of a western sub the setting being outer space. I feel like the modern scifi genre is very much the child of what was once the classic western. The themes, key characters, and plot points remain very much the same.

I do! I do!

Frailty is one of the most well written mind fucks out there. It's in my Top 20 list somewhere. I may have to rewrite it seeing as I can't find where I saved it on the other computer. Frailty is a very superior movie in the area of mind screws. I recommend it to anyone. If there's a person out there that hasn't seen it I highly recommend it. There's very few movies that I push people to find and see, but that's one of them. I also tell people to see Thank You For Smoking.
