What movie do you all rate as the best sci-fi flick of all time? For me it's Aliens.

Terrible news.

Probably BLADE RUNNER.

MATRIX and DARK CITY are strong contenders. PREDATOR and T2, if you count them.

I've never truly understood all the Blade Runner love. That movie just makes me want to go to sleep. Predator and T2 count as far as I'm conceerned, but I always rate T1 higher than T2. I basically hate kids playing large roles in movies. I know it's anime, but Ghost in the Shell is a great sci-fi movie as well.

It's not about comparing the two, but being completely engaged by Stellen Skarsgaard's performance, which is superior to Pacino's in every way.
i agree, and the original movie is better by a wider margin (although i think the remake was good as far as hollywood watered down remakes go).

Night Listener

I made a point to see this in theaters. I enjoyed it. It was short, and not extremely memorable. I do think it was overlooked though. Robin Williams does some of his best work in his lesser known films. I appreciate his work. What Dreams May Come was terrific.

The Golden Compass

Just saw this tonight- good movie. The first 30 minutes you're like "what the hell did I get myself into?" since it looks like a kids only film, but after a while the story starts to deepen and there's lots of excitment. Something kids and adults can enjoy- very entertaining.

In my fairly drunken state I've got to agree w/ you. I can't think of anything I'd consider better. Star Wars? That just popped in. You're probably right though.

I completely forgot about Star Wars, and I really like the originals, but I still say Aliens.
