And from the sounds of it, Fox is going to possibly win Jay Leno for their week-night talk show that they're wanting to launch in '09.
1) Kimmel
2) Ferguson
3) Conan
4) Leno
5) Letterman

That's my list of favorites in order. I just don't see too much appeal in Leno.

Wow. Mine's Leno and Letterman as #1 and #2 with Conan not even being ranked because he's so fucking obnoxious.

I like Leno because his monologues are done in a way that reflects his stand-up experience. Kimmel is very slow and dull, Craig Ferguson is too weird for my taste, Conan plain sucks, and Letterman stumbles and acts like he's coming up with the jokes from memory and has a hard time deciding what he's supposed to say when.

I look at it as Letterman usually having the best guests (and he's a great interviewer) while Leno has the second best guests and the best monologue.

Seriously, though, he's obnoxious, unfunny, and when he interviews his guests, he talks more than his guest does. He steps all over them, cuts them off, tells his own stupid stories in the middle of the interview.

Very annoying person and a horrible talk show host, IMO.

i disagree with pretty much all of that and i don't think he discusses his own stories or interrupts his guests any more than other talk show hosts.

but this has pretty much nothing to do with "serious movie discussion".

Bullit68, you have said on numerous occasions that you don't like Anime. wel lI am no particular fan either really, I have seen Akira nad Ghost in the shell that is pretty much it

I really, really, really recommend you watching Ruroni Kenshin OVA1 (Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal)

Quote:
I can compare this anime with some great historical drama movies I've seen such as Life is Beautiful, Gone With The Wind, and The Last Emperor.
Quote:
First and foremost my goal is to write a review about a movie, not an anime. Many people consider this one of the greatest anime ever made but it kind of saddens me that people only treat it as an anime and recommend fans of anime to watch it. I see Kenshin OVA Trust/Betrayal as a movie and recommend every movie fan to watch it.

'Tsuioku Hen' isn't just good as an anime, book-to-film adaptation, prequel, OVA, or whatever box you want to put it in. It's just *good*! I believe this is the kind of film that is so excellent it transcends its genre.
Quote:
I watched this movie a couple years ago and it completely blew my mind away. I was not a big fan of anime thinking it was all fun and games but this movie showed me otherwise.
Quote:
This is not just great animé this is great cinema.
Quote:
The Ruroni Kenshin OAVs are simply a masterpiece. It easily competes with any non-anime movie, and I think it deserves to be considered as one of the greatest films of all time. Every time I watch this "movie" I am left in awe.
It really is a great movie, beautiful animation at times, awesome soundtrack, epic tale of love and sorrow. all set in Meija period Japan

a handful of quotes from reviews on imdb.com

Oh you want to get into Anime? Shit, Negro, that's all you had to say.

Look up Hayao Miyazake and Satoshi Kon. There are many others, but these dudes are an easy launchpad.

And you're welcome.

Requiem For A Dream - Transitions/Cuts were awesome. The best I've ever seen. It was Raw and just...fresh? GREAT CAST. Aronofsky's stuff is amazing and always seem to be spiritual, but this was his best work period.

*Shrugs*

To each his own. I only have to suffer through his show when an MMA fighter is on, anyway, otherwise I just wait for the big name guests to appear on other shows.

I'll keep it in mind for the future. Not topping my priority list but I'll keep your recommendation in mind.

Don't care for it, and while we're on the subject, I've only attempted to watch The Fountain once and turned it off in about ten minutes.

Flame away.
