Thanks man. Always good to hear about new stuff.
You recently brought up adaptation, Id totally forgot about that one and need to watch it again.
The "fuck flowers" guy (cant think of his name right now) is proving to be of my fav actors.
Just an intelligent film IMO.

Terminator 4 seems to be shaping up as the worst movie ever
Christian Bale seems to have quite the fan base, and Josh Brolin will be in it, which so far is its only saving grace.
Now, the director who has been assigned to this movie has crafted such epics as:
We Are Marshall
The Offspring Complete Music Video Collection
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Charlie's Angels
Cypress Hill: Still Smokin'
and the writers have wrote the disappointing and unnecessary Terminator 3 and the worse Catwoman.
Yeah, great vibes so far.
EDIT: Oh yeah, it is going to be PG 13

I've always thought that movie was overrated. It's a great film and is definitely top twenty, but not top five, and certainly not #2 the way the AFI has it.

That film is ambiguous in certain places, but from what I got, he did. When he shot Woody Harrelson, you could see all of the blood pooling on the floor and he lifts up his feet to make sure he didn't get any on his boots. Then when he steps out onto the porch, he checks both of his boots, my assumption being again to make sure he didn't get any blood on them.

I love Michael Mann, and Manhunter, Heat, and Collateral are all phenomenal. I'm not the world's biggest Jamie Foxx fan, but he was great, Tom Cruise was great, the cinematography was great, very cool shots of L.A. at night (the film takes place from like 10:00PM to 5:00AM the next morning), and some bad ass killings.
The scene at the club Fever is one of all time favorites.

I'll back you on the love for Michael Mann, but please do me a favor. Watch Collateral and put directors commentary on. Michael Mann has some of the worst, most lethargic, boring, bull crap for commentary I've ever heard on a dvd. I have yet to be disappointed by a Michael Mann film though. I even loved Miami Vice. Interesting tidbit about Mann. He has never video released a movie that was the exact same as the theatrical release of a movie. He's a perfectionist to the bitter end, and does editing even after the theatrical release. He also does a large amount of his own camera work, because he's convinced that the camera operators won't be able to capture his vision.
Next. Tom Cruise may be crazy, but that doesn't eliminate him from being a top notch actor. I think a lot of people have missed out on that. I don't vouch for anything he does personally. I think TC is a lunatic. I will however back his acting. The guy simply knows how to execute a role with perfection.
I will also back Hollywood's overselling of Will Smith. I think he's got talent where he needs it, and nails every role he chooses. BTW If you want to see Will Smith, Michael Mann, and Jamie Fox at the top of their games watch Ali. Ali was great all around.

I know. I actually switched from the audio commentary to the text commentary because it was so horrible
The one thing I didn't like about the commentary was that Michael Mann's interpretation of Cruise's glance at Foxx in the club was completely different from my initial interpretation, and it annoys me to know that he saw the interaction differently because I then know my interpretation is "wrong" even though I like it better and think it makes more sense when you think about Cruise's character and the subsequent ride in the cab.
When everybody is swarming around Jamie Foxx, thinking he's Vincent, and Tom Cruise shoots the guy with the laser-sighted gun who was trained on Jamie Foxx, they look at each other and Tom Cruise kind of clenches his jaw and Jamie Foxx is confused as to why he wasted his time saving his life.
When I first saw that, I thought it was Cruise saying, "There. You happy? I saved your life." It felt like a turning point in their relationship, like the point where you knew now that Cruise wasn't going to be able to kill Jamie Foxx like he did the other cab driver. That point is driven home further when they're in the cab and Jamie Foxx is cranking it up to 80/90 mph and Cruise has the gun on him and his voice is cracking as he tells him to slow down. He could've easily killed Jamie Foxx on the bridge after he tossed his briefcase, he could've easily let Jamie Foxx die in the club, and he could've easily shot him in the car, but every opportunity he had to get rid of him, he didn't take it and instead went out of his way to NOT kill him.
Michael Mann said, however, that it was Cruise's professionalism showing through, and the look signifying his annoyance with Foxx, like, "How dare you interrupt me?" I get that perspective, but as childish as it may sound, I like my interpretation better

A lot of directors are like that but very few do what he does. I love the story Thelma Schoonmaker (Scorsese's longtime editor) told about how, when her and Scorsese were at the first screening of Goodfellas how he kept saying to her, "Oh, I should've shot it from this angle" or, "I think a faster cut to this shot would've been better," and she just said to him, "Marty, it's over. The film's done. Let it go."
John McTiernan said that he can't watch his films for five or ten years because he'll notice all of the little mistakes he made and it eats away at him.
Kubrick is an even more extreme case, having been reported to have never watched any of his films subsequent to their release despite being one of the most controlling perfectionists of all time.

I totally agree. I don't care how insane he acts off-screen, if his acting doesn't suffer, I could care less.

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen that. I always wanted to but I guess it kind of slipped under the radar for me.

One of the themes of the movie is the fatalism and inability of the characters to change what is coming. Not only yes, but every character in the film knew it was coming, including Tommy Lee Jones' character, who chose not to intervene.

He did kill her. What tips you off is he checks his feet as he leaves. To make sure he's not leaving bloody footprints. He's careful like that, as evinced in the scene with Woody Harrelson's character.

you're letting me down hunter.
tom cruise is a craptastic actor. he basically does 2 things: acts smug, or stares comically while he like violently trembles.
granted acts better than 99% of the general population could, but only better than like maybe 50% of hollywood, which isn't exactly saying much.

This is very disappointing news to hear. I wish they would've just stopped after T2 to be honest. The 3rd one was bad, now this 4th one doesn't sound like there's much potential. And rated PG-13, WTF? Guess they're trying to appeal to the crowd that tuned into that Terminator series from Fox. Whatever they're doing, this is just awful! And Terminator and T2 are two of my favorite flicks, now they're just ruining the series.

I'm willing to back up a few actors that Hollywood asks us to love.
Tom Cruise
Will Smith
Johnny Depp
They are all good actors and worthy of their position in Hollywood high society. I think Johnny Depp is a loon too. I actually may place JD above TC on the Hollywood crazy scale. I think JD believes that he is middle class America. I'm pretty sure JD is oblivious to the fact that main stream America don't all live like him. I do however thing JD is good at what he does. I think his work in Sweeny Todd was amazing.
