As anybody can see from reading what I've said in the past, I don't find Oldboy to be anything special. However, reading that Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are going to do a remake. . .

I know Yeahbee disagrees with that order, but it's the truth

And even between the Rambo films, First Blood>First Blood Part II.
What? How can First Blood be better than First Blood 2? First Blood isn't even a hardcore action film, it's more of a survival-in-the-wilderness type movie. The part in FB 2 where the helicopter drops the nuke on top of the waterfall is the best part of any action movie. Ever. Worth the price of admission alone.

Predator could be classified as either horror, sci-fi, or action. Take your pick. Aliens is also above all those films you mentioned, if you will consider it action as opposed to sci fi.

I actually rewatched Lethal Weapon a few nights ago and it only furthered my conviction that Die Hard>Lethal Weapon.

1) Again, things change when we're talking pure action. Overall, First Blood is infinitely superior to First Blood Part II. However, it's not a pure action film, so that changes things.

2) There are a lot of scenes in action movie history that are superior to that scene in First Blood Part II. Great scene, but I myself wouldn't consider it the best.

That's the thing: If it can be categorized as more than one genre, then it's not a pure action film. You can't call Die Hard anything but action. Same for Lethal Weapon, same for First Blood Part II, same for Under Siege, etc.

However, if we put "pure" aside and just lumped all action films together, then I think I'd have it as follows:
  1. Die Hard
  2. Lethal Weapon
  3. Predator
  4. Terminator 2
  5. Commando

All other films can fight for their rankings, but these films are by themselves at the top of the genre. I love Total Recall, I love Under Siege, and yes, I love First Blood Part II, but I think those five films are the cream of the crop in action.

OMG you cannot be serious with that list. Commando? hahahaha! When was the last time you watched this? It's enjoyable as a kid, but watch it as an adult and it's just too incredibly stupid to take seriously. At least with Die Hard, the film can be taken somewhat seriously because he knocks the bad dudes off one-by-one in a realistic manner, instead of 1 dude versus 100 like Commando.

Here's the real list:

1. First Blood Part 2
2. Die Hard
3. Aliens
4. Terminator 2
5. Fortress
