Now it's off to watch the 1941 thriller The Ghost Train before I call it a night.

3:10 to Yuma is my all time favorite.
The whole moral aspect along with Bale's character of being a relativily weak guy going against impossible odds is what takes even more touching.
The speech Bale gives to his son and the other guy at the end was touching. The last 20 minutes of that movie is hands down the best ending of any movie ever made.

Couldn't agree more. An excellent movie, and Ben Foster is great in it.
Anyone seen War Inc. with John Cusack? It reminds me of Southland Tales, only less weird. I enjoyed it at least.

i heard about audition, sounds pretty cool. While touching on foreign flicks (at least from my US point of view), anyone ever catch Life is Beautiful (La vite Bella)?
That I think is one of the best films ever released.
Its been popping up on cable lately but always the dubbed version which kills it.

In terms of religious films, I think everyone (religious and non religious) can appreciate The Gospel According to St. Matthew. Unlike The Passion of the Christ which was all brutality and barely anything else, this movie is the best in depicting Jesus and his message. It was filmed in Italy with barely to no professional actors. Besides all that, it is probably the best book to film adaptions ever. ALL the dialogue is right from the book of Matthew. The soundtrack is eclectic but fits with the overall tone. IMO one of the best movies ever made.
Oh yeah, the movie was made by a gay marxist atheist. You may also know him as the creator of Salo.

For some reason this thread made me think of this movie.
The Navigator: A Mediaeval Odyssey (1988)
Anyone else see this? I need to re-watch it.

ALIEN3, I liked. I admit it did suffer from too many chefs being in the kitchen. It was his first time out, he did not know how to assert himself properly.

I personally thought the story itself was interesting, and I liked the ending though the whole movie was a complete fail for me. It was like they just filmed the movie right off an idea they had and didn't expand on it. It was executed incredibly bad and the movie lacked any sort of suspense, thrills, or emotions. I was able to predict the whole entire movie right after Ripley's first encounter with the Xenomorph. The ending seemed rushed, and Ripley's suicide looked like they tried really hard to make it appear epic and emotional but I didn't think much of it. The sets and cinematography were great though.
However, it is a masterpiece compared to Resurrection.

Hmmm, I know that A LOT of people discredit The Passion because of its violence, but wasn't that the point? If the story is true, then let's not sugar coat it, IMHO. Gibson was not trying to encapsulate Jesus' teachings, but only focus on, well, the passion. AND Monica Bellucci was in it.
