Daredevil (2003) was a big surprise. I was expecting a disaster like Catwoman (2004). Really, I don't understand why this movie was dismissed by so many, and poor Ben Affleck. I simply can't understand all the hate for this guy.

He was great as Daredevil, and his interaction with Jennifer Garner felt real and beautiful. They were the best part of this movie and the director did a very good job, making this movie look good. The quality of the movie is surprisingly good. The only thing I could complain about is the 2 enemies. Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin and Colin Farrell as Bullseye, are miscasted to their roles. I also find Farrells portrayal to be to much over the top. Ohh yeah, I find Daredevils costume rather ugly.

I hope they can bring Daredevil to life again with a sequel.

I actually think this is one of the better Superhero movies on the market. In style of "realism" it come close to Nolans series of Batman.

7/10

I thought this movie failed because despite trying to take a more character development heavy route, it was unbearably hammy (especially since the two main villains were as horribly miscast as you admit). And when you mix how impossible it was to take it seriously with how forcibly dark the whole affair could be, it makes for a movie that comes off the rails early and doesn't ever redeem itself.

I'd knock it down at least two points from your score, probably more like three.

The Daredevil movie was a wasted opportunity. I haven't seen the director's cut, they say it makes the film more bearable though.

Everybody should try to read Frank Miller's historic run on Daredevil to get the real essence of the character and the gritty world around him.

Daredevil: Born Again

If you could only read one Daredevil book, Born Again is the penultimate DD book. The story is Kingpin finally discovers DD's secret identity and systematically deconstructs Matt Murdock's career, finances, reputation, and personal life.

Later, as Matt Murdock retrieves his Daredevil costume from the rubble of his destroyed apartment, Murdock thinks, "I never would have connected it to you. Nothing about it said gangster --- until this. It was a nice piece of work, Kingpin. You shouldn't have signed it."

Zombieland was pretty good.

won't say the hype was true, it is like we have already seen zombie humor, and we had already seen fast running zombies. actually think they failed with these zombies, fast running, no headshots required and they weren't all out attacking= fail

and even with all those rules they behaved poorly in terms of survival

I watched the directors cut, and I can see from the info it was 30 min longer than the original. What I can understand, people who have been rewatching Daredevil the directors cut, got a much better impression.

Maybe you should rewatch it. You to Willy.

Is there a difference between greatest and a favorite list? It's my own personal list, so I think they mean the same for me.

Thailand is great. You should try it one day. You will fall in love. I have never tried any insects because there are so much else to choose from.
Tropa de Elite gets some hate because some extreme left-wingers blast it as a tool for Fascism. I'm hardly a right-winger, but I know better than to belittle such a great film for ignorant reasons. In a perfect world, Brazil's elite forces wouldn't have to use so much force and violence, but when the favelas are controlled by ruthless, bloodthirsty thugs with firepower that rivals a small army, then the special forces have to be pretty rough at times (considering how corrupt the Brazilian police force is). I loved Tropa de Elite not because I want to be a Fascist when I grow up, but because they didn't pussyfoot around with the story (and the movie itself is pretty great). I actually didn't agree with some of the torture methods the special forces use, but it didn't make me dislike the film.

Anyway, the difference between a great list and favorite list is that some movies are technically great, but you may not like them, while other movies you really enjoy, but you understand that they are flawed. An example (for me) would be The Thirteenth Warrior. Sure, the movie is flawed, but it's a damn enjoyable movie and I have seen it over and over. On the other hand, I recognize the extreme craftsmanship in a film like 2001: A Space Odyssey, but I didn't like the film, so it wouldn't be on my "favorite" list. Does that make sense?

The first time I watched Daredevil, I actually thought it was pretty decent. Upon second viewing, I didn't like it as much. The film could/should have been much better. I have no interest in ever watching it again.

I'm watching P2 right now, and all I can say is that this film is underrated. It got blasted by the critics, and although it's not going to be the best film you have ever seen, I still think it's a very good movie, well worth watching. 8/10.

My copy of Lock Up messed up, so I didn't get to finish the film, but this is a great prison movie from the 80's (starring Sly). I'm glad I watched it again, and hopefully I can finish it soon. I remember seeing it as a kid, but the only thing I remembered about the movie was the bench press incident.

Exactly. What other Bergman films have you seen?
