I highly suggest all of you watch the Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Making.

It's available on Netflix instant watch and there's plenty of good information and intriguing interviews in it.

Also, you get to hear Steven Spielberg say "great white turd".

Attention Bullitt. I have rewatched Barry Lyndon and I must say it's a very beautiful film. Like poetry for the eyes. Certainly it will be in my top 5 list.

I have always liked Charles Bronson and was a small fan of the Death Wish movies. I have now enjoyed a new good movie from the 70's. The Mechanic (1972) is probably the best performance I have seen from Bronson.

He is totally cool in this movie. More cool than Steve McQueen.

The motorbike scene was the most brutal and violent chase scene I have ever experienced and the film has a very good ending.

Bravo.

8/10

If you are a classic action fan Dolph Lundgrens The Mechanik is a must (no connection to the Bronson but in name)

seriously a great action movie

I watched In America the other day. It's not my usual type of movie but I thought it was excellent. Pretty standard (theres that word again) story with immigrants trying to make it in America, but the acting was excellent and the emotion didn't feel forced to me. The two young girls in it, I'm not sure if they had done anything before or since but they were very good. Definitely not the usual child performances that ruin good movies.

I also rewatched Heat. It's been discussed so many times but I'll just say I liked it way more the second time, even though I thought it was an easy 8/10 on first viewing. I had a disagreement with Bullitt about the necessity of the Val Kilmer parts the first go round and now I completely withdraw my argument and see he was 100% correct.

If anybody is interested in the new Angelina Jolie spy thriller, here:

The Plot

Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is a CIA officer who swore an oath to duty, honor, and country. When she is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy, Salt goes on the run to clear her name and ultimately prove she is a patriot.

The premise reminds me of the tense spy thriller No Way Out. Tom Cruise was to play the main character but backed out at the last minute. Jolie stepped up, they had to rewrite the role specifically for her.

Over under on how many more times I say it between now and the release?

How about the film overall? Still boring or did you like it better this time around?

Bronson is awesome and The Mechanic is a great one. Check out stuff like The Valachi Papers and Mr. Majestyk if you haven't already.

I'm glad you've seen the light

Every second the trailer lasted, it got progressively worse. It started off real promising but by the end it looked like Wanted or Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

And what a stupid title. They couldn't come up with anything better?
