I guess I'm in the minority because I thought
Into The Wild was good, but not great. I thought the movie was way too preachy. I found Chris McCandles character to be interesting, but very flawed, selfish, and very naive. Sure, it may
sound great to try to free oneself from the materialistic world we live in today, but would you really want to live without all the benefits? How about electricity? Automobiles? Television? The internet? Sounds an awful lot like Ted Kaczynski to me. It's still a good movie, just not life-changing. 8/10.
I just watched
Michael Clayton. Talk about overrated - this movie is like hearing your boss give instructions for five minutes, then realize he was talking to you all along. You don't have a clue as to what's going on. At least that's how it felt to me. Throughout the movie I wondered who the hell these characters were, what the storyline was supposed to be about, and why the fuck should I even care. When the latter comes into play, then usually the movie is doing a horrible job of explaining itself and captivating the observer's attention. It wasn't a horrible movie, but nothing more than a good made-for-TV flick. This movie is the best example I can give as to why no one on earth should care what the fuck a group of self-imposed elitists (the Oscars) believe is the best movie of the year - MAKE UP YOUR OWN DAMN MIND. I just cannot believe that this would even be considered a nominee for "Best Picture of the Year" for 2007. MC = 6.5/10.
