I hated that movie. The only reason I watched it was because I like Ed Harris, but I thought the movie itself was crap. That stupid rape scene made me shut it off the first time because I just couldn't take the film seriously, and then I caught the rest of it on HBO a few days later.

Oh, of course. Candlestick Park didn't ring any bells. If you would've said the end at the baseball game, that would've clicked.

Rape scene? What rape scene? When Viggo and his wife have sex?

Rather than being consensual, this is a rape scene. Tom forces Edie to have sex with him on the stairs

I think I'm remembering something to do with stairs. . .maybe.

All I remember for sure is my "WTF?" reaction followed by my changing the channel.

I'm not letting the film off that easy

And I've got a question for the "Serious" movie fans that frequent this thread: What are your thoughts on the ubituous superhero/comic films? I seem to really be getting on this guy Blair's nerves because of my disdain for the genre. Are you guys sick of film after film following the same formula or do you like these superhero/comic films?

TDK excluded since there's already been enough talking about that film.

I haven't seen the movie in a while but I think his wife "gets into it". Not sure if I would classify it as a rape scene

TDK is the only film in the genre that I can even sit through... And guess what? I didn't even like it that much...

I say leave the comic books to the comic books

IMO if it starts off as a rape... it's a rape

So there's one like-minded moviegoer. I don't have a problem with TDK (I thought Batman Begins was absolutely awful, though) but I do have a problem with the way they find success with one film and then just turn out film after film that's just the same thing with different characters and tweaked plot points.

And the super visual/SFX films like Wanted I'll never understand, neither how films like it are getting made nor---and this more than anything---how people actually like them.
