Anyone see Midnight Meat Train?
I'm curious to hear some thoughts. I really want to see this movie. I'm a big fan of Lionsgate horror flicks.

I've got beef w/ The Dark Knight. I'll stick my neck out there and stand up to the giant. I didn't really have any problem w/ it until I started watching Pan's Labyrinth for the XX time.

I'm perfectly willing to ignore the hype about Heath Ledger and everyone latching onto his fantastic performance. I don't argue the fact that The Dark Knight is an AMAZING movie, but I've got an issue w/ it being at the #1 slot on the IMDB top 250. I just can't hold The Dark Knight to other movies such as Pan's Labyrinth which sits at #59 on the list and say that The Dark Knight is the better film. PL is in my opinion a noticeably superior film. PL has such stunning visuals, a superior story, better acting overall, more captivating overall. I just can't justify TDK being at number 1.

imdb is sucking real bad in that capacity. new movies get high ratings from all the OMGZ BEST MOVIE EVER fanatics. I've seen at least 300 movies that were better than the dark knight. That's not to say it was bad....it was definitely good.

Pans Labyrinth... ok don't freak out or anthing lol, but i haven't seen it. people keep telling me what an amazing movie it is, but i just can't get myself to actually sit down and watch it

As for The Dark Knight... yeah it's a really good movie but I don't think it'd the GREAT movie that people keep saying it is. Maybe the best movie in the past few years... It's a great movie financially speaking, but thats about it.

It'll come down in time. Adventually, it may even fall out of the top 100, but that's a decade away at least. It's ranked number 13 in the all time highest grossing US box office at 351 mil and climbing. That shows you how many young people like it. You only get those numbers with repeat viewers. The only problem I have with this list is that they don't count for inflation and the rising cost of movie tickets.

It'll come down, this is the start of a pattern.

I personally think that IMDB needs to add more weight to the number of voters. TDK has just over half as many votes as Shawshank and The Godfather. That's another thing, it erks me that Shawshank is ranked higher than the Godfather. It's a great movie, but the Godfather is in a different league. It's just that the majority of it's fan base sits in an age group that is really doesn't involve itself with the internet. Shawshank was more recent and TDK was more recent than Shawshank and it's primary audience grew up on the internet.

It will drop.

BTW – I loved you’re El Topo post.
