Terminator 2 is more sci-fi. Die Hard is a straight-up action film, and IMO, there's none better.

It's great. You should also check out The Virgin Spring, which Wes Craven remade into [the inferior] Last House on the Left.

Terminator 2 isn't a straight action flick, though. It's a sci-fi/action hybrid. Straight action movies like Die Hard that don't include fake technology/aliens/mysticism are harder to do well, because you are constrained to things that just happen in real life (relatively speaking, of course.) For straight up action, you can't do better then Die Hard, I don't think.

I guess Terminator 2 is both Sci-Fi and action. I see your point about Die Hard being a straight action movie. However, I'm not sure that it's the best I've ever seen.
I went to the movies tonight to see Wall-E, and I feel like a queer for saying this, but it's actually a cute movie. If you're on a date and you're going to watch a movie, that would be the one you'd want to see.
I agree with the previous poster who said that The Devil's Backbone sucked. Coming from the director of Pan's Labyrinth, which is one of my favorite movies, I expected more.

i thought that the devil's backbone was a solid movie. pan's labyrinth was better, but not exactly the greatest movie ever made either.
btw if you're interested in guillermo del toro, i highly recommend this interview here did with npr after PL came out. very interesting mind.

I know it's not a movie per se, but the HBO mini-series Band of Brothers is the best war movie/series I've ever seen. It is absolutely amazing. The episode where they find the concentration camp is very moving. It's one of the few things that I'd give a rating of 10/10.

American Pyscho
spoilers
can someone explain to me what happens at the end? the lawyer claims to have had lunch with Paul Allen and Bateman's secretary is going through his drawings, which I assumed meant she discovered what he was doing.

I got into thr classics a few years ago. Charlie Chan movies, Alfred Hitchcock, Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, Laura. They are fucking great. Even some old Westerns are. Doesnt mean I cant enjoy Transformers when I want to vegg out and have fun.
