You've never seen any of the Die Hard films

Go get them all immediately.

That's what I figured but I wanted to make sure. The original is great, too. IMO, the original handled the scenes at the hotel in Contention better while the remake flushed out more with the characters.

Die Hard is the best action film of all time, and its sequels are great, too, Die Hard with a Vengeance in particular.

I would watch them in order, but I'm very neurotic when it comes to things like that. In all honesty, the only thing you'd get from watching them in order would be John McClane's character arc.

IIRC, there's nothing in terms of story that would have you confused watching Live Free or Die Hard having never seen the previous films, but like I said: If it were me, I'd have to watch them in order.

Die Hard 1 and 3 are great.

The 2nd one is too by the numbers, and the 4th one shit all over the franchise. Well, not really. I mean I could actually tolerate Justin Long's character and I liked the dynamic between McClane's Reagan era everyman and Long's Colbert/Stewart era cynic, but Bullock was a shitty villain. John Amos was a better Die Hard villain and he was barely in 2nd film.

Plus Kevin Smith is annoying and bald, and Len Wiseman? Why?

I liked one and two. Three was alright, but the whole racial dynamic seemed pretty pointless to me. Never saw the 4th.
