Same here. The Pink Panther movies get on my nerves a bit but my wife loves him. I do like Peter Sellers though.
While on the topic, I never see Being There mentioned in here? Whats up with that? Great film and very funny. I would think the Mayberry movie crowd would dig it. Has anyone seen it?

I had very high expectations for Paths of Glory but I thought that it was just good but not great. I thought that Spartacus was better.
Then again, I'm not much of a Kirk Douglas fan...

Spartacus is a lot better.

The best Kirk Douglas movie is THE CRIMSON PIRATE.
Okay, Kirk Douglas wasn't in that one. It was Burt Lancaster.

Just got back from Watchmen. Of course it was not even close to the greatness which the graphic novel achieves, but it was still a pretty damn good film.
I don't think it could've been adapted any better the Snyder did it, most of the best lines of dialogue were delivered perfectly and I didn't mind the ending change.
My biggest complaint was the Laurie character (played by Malin Akerman. I thought she played the part brutally and didn't convey any of 'Lauries' emotions that she shows in the GN. Comedian was my favorite character in the film, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan had the best performance for sure.
The action scenes were pretty awesome too, tons of gore.
Ill give it an 8/10 because I loved the book so much, but I recommend it for everyone. (except kids lol)

The Good:- Rorschach. He was by far the most (or better put, only) interesting character in the film.
- The setting. The Cold War is still an underutilized backdrop for movies.
- The ending. If you can somehow manage to stay awake, the ending is very good. At least I think it's the ending - I walked out of a stupid rape baby scene that I'm guessing was the last scene in the film, but which I cared nothing about.
The Bad:
Everything else.- Way, way too much uninteresting dialogue. In fact, WAY too much dialogue period. This film is 95% talk, 1% action, and I daydreamed during the other 4%.
- Uninteresting characters. Outside of Rorschach, I literally cared for none of the other characters. A guy named Comedian who isn't funny (and yeah, there may be more meaning to the name but this movie was so boring, I don't give a damn), a chick whose presence annoyed me except for the brief scenes when they showed glimpses of her tits, a cheap Batman imitation, and a blue guy who showed way too many glowing cock shots.
- Did I mention all the glowing blue penis shots?
- Shotty directing. This really surprises me, as Zack Snyder directed both Dawn of the Dead and 300. You would figure that the director of 300 would be able to direct a good fight sequence, and outside of a few Rorschach scenes, that was definitely not the case. Not only that, the whole story felt rushed and chopped up. And he did nothing to inspire me to give a damn about any of the characters.
- Approximately a 5 hour, 29 minute run time. Or at least that's how long it felt. Seriously, people walked into the theater looking young, and left looking like Moses after God wrote him the 10 Commandments.
Basically, if you're a fan of the comic books and don't need a lot of explanation, you will probably enjoy the film. I, however, left very disappointed. This movie tries hard to be as epic as The Dark Knight, but fails miserably. The Watchmen = 5 glowing, flapping blue cocks out of 10.

usually I hate reading a book before its movie comes out, but I read watchmen a couple months ago. Now I'm glad I did or I'd prob be disappointed like you. And Rorschach is by far the best character even in the novel

I don't want it to seem like I'm trying to convince you he turned in this amazing performance with obvious brilliance inherent in every second that he was on screen, but I do think he did a respectable job.

I'm surprised people think Spartacus is better than Paths of Glory. Both are phenomenal but Paths of Glory much more so IMO.

Really? He rounds out my list of the ten best actors to ever live.
Which of his films have you seen?

I wouldn't say it's contradictory. You're just not a fan of his except for one performance.

You, too? Man, I think The Return of the Pink Panther and The Pink Panther Strikes Again are two of the funniest films ever made and Peter Sellers is absolutely brilliant in both.

Was it the best performance or was the character just really awesome? Basically every review I've read has said Jackie Earl Haley is clearly the standout.

Fun fact: the actor who played the badass known as Rorschach in The Watchmen is the same guy who played the hippie who hit the halfcourt shot in Semi-Pro.
