Fair enough.

I thought it was great. Great cinematography (a Kubrick hallmark) and a phenomenal score.

I think you should give them a chance, if for no other reason to have a definitive opinion on Kubrick.
Killer's Kiss and
The Killing were very early in Kubrick's career and he was just finding his voice.
Paths of Glory is really where he solidified himself as a true filmmaker (and what a great film with tremendous performances from Kirk Douglas, George Macready, and Adolphe Menjou) and then following that up with
Spartacus was a hell of a one-two punch.
Lolita is a great black comedy with wonderful performances from James Mason, Shelley Winters, and the always hilarious Peter Sellers.
Barry Lyndon is IMO the most beautiful film ever made. Stunning sets, costumes, lighting, and magnificent cinematography. It's also my favorite music score ever.

Flashy and short takes annoys the shit out of me.

How about in the beginning of
Pulp Fiction? John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson going from their car all the way up to Frank Whaley's apartment, down the hallway where they continue arguing, and then finally back to the apartment door.
Long singular take with great dialogue.
