Just finished The Killing. Good movie. HUGE step up from Killer's Kiss. Very cool execution of the story, how they keep going back in time for different characters to show how it all goes down, and all the different perspectives. I think Kubrick did that once in Killer's Kiss, and while it was a cool technique, it was kind of out of place in that movie.

Also saw Never Back Down. it was lol

And Redbelt. Put together well, but incredibly incoherent i thought. I don't mind a movie that makes you piece shit together, but I think I do mind a movie about BJJ that makes you piece shit together.

everything seemed "wtf" to me in Redbelt. By the end some things are answered but a lot of it is still "wtf"

Yea Redbelt sucked balls.

The only thing good about it was the always reliable Eijofor. But I know what you mean about Mamet not connecting the dots. Why and for what reason does Terry's wife "align" with Tim Allen and his wife, who was previously fucking her over on the fabric shit? The hot watch subplot goes nowhere unless you count that wretched performance by the widow. "Who's gonna pay these bills? Are you? Huh....are you?" How so much information forces Terry to forfeit going to court and why all that legal crap ensues to begin with, is just beyond me I guess. Mamet's abilities have been on a steady decline for quite a while: a fact validated by his retarded thesis about no longer being a liberal.

Never Back Down was actually better. Doesn't say much, but definitely not deserving of all the lame vitriol thrown at it by "hardcore" fans as if a good MMA-themed movie is possible. Although Bonner's new film may argue otherwise.

As for Piven, I think he has the potential to be a good, versatile, actor even if he's horribly one note. Cusack gets credit for not being one note for whatever reason, but is.

Still a great song no matter how lame most of Cameron Crowe's stuff is (although I will defend to the death Vanilla Sky).
