RocknRolla was mediocre. Basically a much weaker version of Lock Stock and Snatch (which were both awesome IMO).
The Thing was remade from this The Thing from Another World (1951) .. they switched up the plot a lot though.

is it safe to say that guy ritchie's career was less killed by madonna's thunderc#nt and more by his inability to make a movie that isn't exactly the same as lock stock?

I'm still pumped to see Sherlock Holmes though. Maybe he can pull something together... or maybe Robert Downey will just save that movie too

i don't really get all the downey love. i don't think he's all that great of an actor at all. if anything, he's like jeremy piven but not ugly. come to think of it, i don't really get the piven love either.

I think thats an accurate statement. I loved Lock Stock and Snatch, but I grew tired of the same plot used for RocknRolla. It didnt help that I couldnt stand alot of the characters from RocknRolla.
To Flosh, I havent seen the original The Thing, but I am a big fan of the remake. I actually got to meet John Carpenter at a drive in theater. Pretty cool guy. He asked what my favorite movie of his was and I said it was a tie between The Thing and Big Trouble In Little China. I asked if either Kurt Russell or Keith David was infected at the end of The Thing, he just looked at me and said, "I dont even know".

I cant stand Jeremy Piven. Alot of my friends love him because of PCU. I liked him in Judgement Night, but only because Denis Leary pushed him off a roof to his death.

don't get me wrong, i like pcu a lot, and i even like him in it, but i think it's one of those cases where it would have been better if he'd just rode off into the sunset after that. his shtick wears thin rather quickly, and he's the type of guy where overexposure takes me from thinking "he's lost his charm" to "i hate that stupid ugly short swarthy balding cokehead egomanic turd."
lol i read somewhere that he was beefing with his pal john cusack, and accused him of being jealous. the guy has a successful show on not just television not just cable but premium cable and some dude who starred in like 50 movies is jealous? hahaha

I didnt know he had beef with Cusack. Just another reason for me not to like Piven. Didnt they star together in Gross Pointe Blank? I wonder if Cusack had a hand in landing Jeremy that part. I just dont get why people like him so much. Ive seen him in alot of movies and as GSP would say, "Im not impressed with his performance".
