i watched it a few days ago... nothing spectacular. it's kind of like a quentin tarentino film, how it's shown out of sequential order. it starts out interesting, gets progressively slower and more tedious to watch, and then the ending picks up pace a little bit more. it felt like 2:30 hours but it was only 1:50 or so. you're not missing anything if you don't see it.

I would concur with this statement were it not for the copious amounts of nudity by Marissa Tomei.

Which, while pretty spectacular, is still not reason enough to see this film.

So, yeah, I concur. I think a more gripping version of this type of film is NORMAL LIFE, with Luke Perry and Ashley Judd. It's a low-key, non-flashy story about ruptured home lives. Criminal activity gets thrown into the mix and ultimately fucks things up even worse. So the stories go.

DEVIL is pretty good for its performances -- but unless you're really keen into movies, and I'm talking mechanics of storytelling and acting, it will not blow up your skirt. Unless you own a jewelry store and/or hate your parents in a very specific, and impotent, way.

you ever get a crack at that the lives of others yet?

You bastard. How dare you make me feel this old. PM pics to make me feel better.

And, yeah, that was Marisa Tomei. BACK IN MY DAY -- he said, sinking into a rocking chair -- she was considered the hotness after she (should not have) won the the Oscar for MY COUSIN VINNIE. She quickly became a joke thereafter but has experienced a solid resurgence in her career due to taking smaller, performance driven pieces such as this and IN THE BEDROOM.

*Movie Review: Into the Wild*

Into The Wild is truly a life changing movie. I can't comprehend seeing this movie without being moved. Into The Wild really makes one consider the impact or lack there of that they are having on the world around them. Chris McCandless truly had in mind what was important in life. He realized how far an education can truly get you. It was the mission of Chris McCandless to make it to Alaska, and really experience the world. Along the way we meet a plethora of characters that Chris McCandless encounters. This is the honest heart of the story. This is a movie about the people we meet, and the impact we have. This movie stretches 2 hours and 28 minutes, but could have gone 6 hours or more and I still would be a captive audience for the stories that the life of the main character opens the audience too. Into the Wild captures an element of story telling that I have yet to encounter in any movie I've seen. The movie is so simple in it's style, yet so robust in it's delivery. I can't say enough good for the elements of this movie, and how it genuinely moved me as well as many others I'm sure. This is a beautiful picture, and one that completes itself. I only wish that I could have met the real life characters that we are only given glimpses of in this marvelous picture. To say Into the Wild was a great movie would be an understatement. This is a movie that truly belongs in the classics. I will be revisiting this adventure many times to come.

10/10
