The scourge that is CC in emails + work assistance

Hi,

I am general friendly positive guy. At work now due to the Enron fiasco, I now have to enter in invoices for the accounts department (separation of duties). This means I have to work with this woman from accounts who is such a mega bitch, negative, horrible to be around person.

REALLY bad!

This I understand and can live with. However, what is annoying me immensely is that anytime she has any problem with me she emails me, and CCs my manager and her manager.

She makes it look like I am screwing up or being lazy which is far from the truth. Any problems I have with her work, then I call her. Eg. I called her yesterday as she was 4 days overdue providing me with something as agreed. I had asked her several times. She snapped back at me saying she was too busy.

Next minute, I get an email CCd to my manager, and her manager blaming me for a massive delay unrelated. She did not even mention it to me first.

I was very tempted to reply to all, and explain my side or reply to all and blast her for all of her mistakes yet feel this is immature and would only lead to an escalatation of an email war between us. Yet, I do not want to seem like I am the guy getting everything wrong either.

* I asked her not to CC everyone in but she still does. Everytime it happens my boss calls me into the office and blasts me for the delay. The delay is caused by the system of which I did not even put in place. It is a stupid system but I cannot change it as I am very junior at present.


Advice please!

there is probibloy nothing you can do that will make this situaiton better

when your boss blows you up about something defend yourself of
course.

apart from that just act professionally and do your job. it is likly that people
will judge for themsleves both of your caracters.

i've dealt with individuals like this in the past throughout the workplace; if you don't do something to stop it; it will be your demise.

you need to formally address the issue. tell your superviser that she is inadequately treating you, condescendingly harassing you, and that you demand for it to stop or you will seek outside council.

if you're dealing with an asshole like that; you can only beat them at their own game.

it's either her, or you. get this bitch in check before it's too late.

Advice please!
Play her little fucking game. She is using you as the scapegoat for her incompetence, and you're not handling the situation. How do you think this is affecting your career? Trust me, it is. Document everything, reply to her emails with specific rebuttals and cc your boss and hers. Mention that it seems she is trying to blame you for her inability to complete her work in a timely manner. Mention that you have attempted to resolve this privately but she refuses to talk about it face to face. Maintain your composure and professional tone.

Possibly suggest a sit down with all involved in order to clear the air, since she seems to be unable to deal with you one on one. Be sure to mention that you feel her attacks are entirely unwarranted, and be able to prove it. Be able to recount times that she missed her goals and that you feel she using you to deflect attention from herself. Briefly recount the some examples, leaving the impression that you have more ammo if neded. I'm guessing either she'll back down, the managers will tell her to resolve this between the two of you, or the meeting will happen and her true nature will be obvious. Oh, and remember, they probably know she's a **** already.

Meanwhile, demonstrate and document that you are highly competent and diligent. Remember specific examples. You are in the corporate world, you need to cheer lead for yourself. Nobody will promote you for being a swell dude. But continue to have a cheerful attitude, give them NO reason to have a poor opinion of you. Vent here, we know you hate your job, your co-workers shouldn't.

Oh, and if I was you I'd be sickeningly friendy towards her, appear to actually like her, act like you two are buddies and this is a little game you two like to play... but then again I'm devious like that. That should fuck with her head a bit.

She sounds like one of those people that is put on the Earth to make other people miserable.

Ask her if she is upset, annoyed, frustrated, and if she wants a hug and to talk about it.

Develop a rapport with her: start leaving copies of "Cat Fancy" magazine on your desk when she's around.

Course that won't hep with the gay rumors which I'm SURE are swirling around the office.

update: he called a Company Director and himself to blast me.

I have an unofficial 2 weeks probation before they ship me to another project.

I shall not hold a grudge but man is she going to get it.......................kidding. I feel the best advice is for me to focus on myself and my work, ensure I perform well and document everything going on. I shall not turn this into a war as work is challenging enough as it is.

That said, I shall speak to her when this settles down and politely explain again to approach me first

I wouldn't say shit to her privately since it hasn't worked yet. Just do your shit and document it. Also send cc emails out when she delays your work. Use a non confrontational tone, real passive agressive like. Your office sounds gay and it sounds like the bosses already picked the winner so you should look else where: fuck em.
