Rockstar rep says 'complete GTA 4 experience' only on 360
Rockstar rep says 'complete experience' only on 360 - plus new screens and details
http://www.gamesradar.com/us/ps3/gam...13153735796095
It's no secret that the long-ago announced downloadable episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 version of the game. According to Rockstar Games spokesman Hosi Simon, however, there won't be any consolation prizes for those who choose to buy the PlayStation 3 edition instead. When asked during a preview of the game (which you can read about here, if you haven't already) whether there would be any advantage to owning the PS3 version that could rival the 360's exclusives, Simon said, "not that I can think of."
"They're identical games," Simon continued. "We're not hardware makers, and we're not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want.
"But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose," Simon said.
Downloadable episodes or no, the game looks set to be an incredible experience on both platforms, and we've got a new batch of GTA IV screens and art to prove it (just hit the Images tab above to see them all). To find out much more about what you can expect from this sprawling underworld epic, check out the meaty details revealed by our latest preview.

so PS3 players won't get some XBOX 360-only exclusive episodes??? Boo fucking hoo. No story here. I'm just glad it's not an exclusive title.

microsoft paid for the episodes. sony does not buy off developers. they rather invest in their 1st party teams, that is why gran turismo prologue looks amazing. phil harrison has said they are working on getting different features or extra content bc of the blue ray disc.
Phil responded thus: " ... we have a great relationship with Rockstar and we're actually working closely with them on a number of initiatives, so I do know some things that are going on, but I'm not able to share those with you now."

Why do you feel you have to defend Sony? Makes no sense to me.
This is a bad blow to Sony, and if Sony was in this position, it would be a bad blow to Microsoft. "buying off" developers as you put it is a part of business. Whenever you see an exclusive for any console, that developer has gotten compensation from the company the exclusive is for, if they didn't, from a business stand point it would make absolutely no sense.
The only place to play the full GTAIV game will be on the Xbox 360. The only place to play the best version of this years football games will be on the Xbox 360. The only place to play Halo 3 will be on the Xbox 360. Sony is in trouble. Hopefully people pick up on how good Little Big Planet is and give it some really good sales.

Microsoft did not buy anything, they simply gave them a few million dollars as an advance.
And.....
GTA > Manhunt, Bully, Table Tennis, etc.

sony does not buy off anymore bc they want to invest in their in house development that is why Sony will have the best 1st party games.
i dont see myself buying episodes every month for gta4. more micro transactions ftl.
ps3 is getting the same game as the 360 except for silly extra episodes that will cost money, big whoop.
halo 3 its been always on the xbox. did it affect the ps2? no ps2 has been the most selling console in video game history.
360 has more games bc of 13 month ahead of the PS3 and Wii. does that mean is the better console, no. when dvd players came out only hand ful of movies were transfered to dvd while vhs had the most titles bc of years ahead. did that mean vhs was the best media player, no. dvd took over in 1 year. get the trend?

So you're saying the PS3 will surpass the X360 and Wii in the end?

generally speaking the technologically best console of a given generation is not the most successful. we'll see if that holds for ps3. so far it looks to be the case.
