Its called a video game. Lets apply this logic to people who play Madden and tell them to excel in the sport in real life instead.

those are both retarded comparisons- the Gta one for obvious criminal/realism reasons and as for madden, we're talking a miniscule percentage of the population that have the physical attributes to ever make it to the NFL, and even then they need the right coaching, scouting, opportunities and luck with injury.

However there is nothing to stop the vast majority of the population buying a cheap beginners instrument, and if they put in the same amount of practice as they did playing the game they would be able to play the vast majority of the songs on the game within a year or two.
obviously some songs are more difficult than others, but you can be very decent on bass, drums or guitar in 1 year with an hour a day practice if you're consistant.

i enjoy games as much as the next guy but these games are basically rudimentary simulations of the actions of actually playing the real instruments. not saying they aren't fun, i know a lot of people who enjoy them and actually can play real instruments but i just don't see the point of being able to play 'into the flames' on expert with guitar hero if you cant even play 'wild thing' on real guitar, especially when you could have the real skill with the same amount of time and effort.

EXCEPT THAT ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS PLAY A VIDEO GAME. Now quit hijacking the thread.

I don't have Rock Band but I have a few questions. You download these songs off the PS3 or 360 onto the HDD through the internet connection from the console right? I'm guessing you can't get these songs from the PS2 Rock Band?
