yes, its derren brown. He is an incredible showman/hypnotist, but with a pretty mean streak. You should see the zombie shoot-em up trick, thats sadistic.
Its a mixture of magic and real skill. Great to watch.
Yes its possible. The technique utilises touch and NLP. You will notice how he touches the subject to emphasise aspects of the NLP or moves the gaze of the subject. These techniques are used to an extent by advertising corporations to sell sell sell. Its relatively easy to learn the basics.
A number of Bank robberies have been carried out using these techniques (In Europe). Here is a link (I wasn't invloved honest!):

if the person you are trying to hypnotize is highly suggestable they will do what you say.
great example is you tell someone to close their eyes. hold their hands out straight @ even heights.
now imagine you have a weight in your right hand. its pretty heavy but nto that heavy. now its heavier, heavier, heavier..... 1/2 the population their right hand will be more than 6 inches lower than their left.
