Question on the movie "Training Day"

This was bugging me. Why did Alonzo leave Hoyt with the Mexican dudes to get killed?

He could have killed him earlier when he didn't want to go along with the program.

He left him with them to be killed. If they did it, then it would be hard for it to come back on Alonzo.

From how i understood it, it was kind of like a business deal. He could of done it himself but he would of had to cover it up some how. Having things guys do it for him is easier and gives them a little more street credit. At least that's how i took it.

Yeah, they said it was business after they spared his life. I guess that makes sense.

But it came right after that speech by Alonzo and it looked like Hoyt was coming around to the dark side.

This movie rules. The scene where Denzel explains the "reality of corruption" to Hawke in the car after blowing away the dude with the shotgun is superb.

It makes Hoyt's death seem entirely legitimate.

My guess was that Alonzo wanted to have him killed there to reduce suspicion of foul play.

Angry gang bangers killing an undercover cop. No questions asked if you ask me. Killing Hoyt himself would've probably meant a lot more premeditative work on Alonzo's side.

Great film.
