Now that I have your attention! Ha.

Well, this should make for a good laugh: I got a PS3.

Now, before you start running at me with pitchforks, allow me to explain! It was my birthday this last Friday and my girlfriend bought it for me, totally out of left field. First off, I would never be enough of a jerk to ask for such a thing, even jokingly. Secondly, she's broke as a joke (seriously, she makes 25k a year and is going back to school because of it) and never has any spare money for herself, let alone me. So imagine my surprise when I came home and there was a box bigger than anything I'd asked for sitting on the table. What's funny is my first thought was "PS3". But I would've never taken it seriously. Then I lifted it and I REALLY thought "No way is this a freakin' PS3!" and then I opened it. Little did I know, she's been saving up for one for months, just to do something really big and nice (must have something to do with my proposing to her so recently; /reminds self to do it every year).

Anyway, thought you guys would get a laugh out of it. My position hasn't changed as far as my feelings on it, I'll say that much. I still am not ready to buy into Blu-Ray yet because I want the cost of DVD's to come down, though I might splurge on the ones that really cater to the clarity (things like Transformers, etc.). And there are still few games I want to play on it. But I'm going to keep it, as I was needing any reason to be able to play God of War 3 and Twisted M3tal when they come out.

But now I have a new gripe: 40GB model. No backward compatibility. Buuuuullshit. I want to get rid of my stupid PS2 like... yesterday.

(I'm curious how many people will immediately bypass my post and post a comment about how I'm deluded, missing the irony of the title/post entirely.)

Congrats, I think.. I'm going to be getting a PS3 soon, but I will make damn sure it has a larger HD then 40G and backwards compatibility is a must for me.

So, what games do you have for it now? Oh, and happy birthday.

As an early adopter of the PS3, I was one bitter owner since they had crap coming out for it and all their best games were also on the 360. But I'll admit, after blu-ray won the format war and the PS3 finally about to release the big name exclusives that was supposed to come out during launch (namely ****l Gear and Final Fantasy), I'll cut the PS3 some slack. But if you think I'm gonna go crazy when the PS4 comes out, you have another thing coming.

The only game I would care about in regards to backward compatibility would be the Guitar Heros but since the PS3 can't detect the guitars, I'm ish out of luck.

You've got an awesome girlfriend I must say. If she makes that little, but saved up for long enough to get you the PS3, that's pretty sweet. So props on having a cool chick at your side.

The whole no backwards compatibility sucks. That's a dumbass choice on Sony's part. And I've never a big ****l Gear Solid fan, but MSG4 looks pretty sweet, I definitely want to give it a whirl. And I would definitely splurge on a few Blue-Ray DVD's if I were you, they have some good action titles that I'm sure would look and sound awesome.
