I was wondering if someone could give me a hand with my little brothers' PS3. He was playing it earlier today, when it shut down by itself and now the red standby light is flashing, and when he turns it on it goes to a yellow (should be green) light back to the flashing red light.

Does anyone possibly know what could be wrong with it/how to fix it?

Any help is appreciated thanks.

sorry to hear about the ps3 though maybe you should have gotten a 360 they are more reliable and have better games

I've heard of this yellow light of death due to overheating and it isn't something that is easily fixable from what I understand. Is it still under warranty? If not, all signs point to it costing you $150 to get it fixed and you're without your PS for about 3 months. :|

Call Sony tech support and ask for their input.

Maybe, but the little brother is a big time Sony fan so he didn't even consider anything else it was a PS3 or nothing really.

You think its that bad? Hmm that sucks then, we called a help line (i assume they called Sony) and they said it could be just over-heating

Yellow light is a sign that you need to trade in for a 360 immediately
