So there you have it. Heaven; where you wander around not knowing who you are, where you came from, what you are doing there, or what you are going do tomorrow. Sounds fun.

Think about it. If you were going to start a cult/religion and had intentions of controlling people wouldn't this be the perfect concept?
We have no evidence of an afterlife. None. People need to fess up and realize that death is a long dreamless sleep no different than what it was like before you were born. A void.

You speak like you know what happens when you die.
Held hostage to a doctrine? No I don't think so. How is simply believing that Jesus died for you being held hostage to a doctrine?

Its kind of sick twisted concept if you think about it. God says "look I'm going to have to erase your memory because I don't want you to know anything about your mom getting a hot poker up in her ass while you are here enjoying heaven as an automaton." What a dick that god is.

What makes you think that this passage is reffering to how it is when someone dies and goes to heaven?

Explain your reasoning please if you would.
And Cakewalk, I'd still like to know why you think that passage is reffering to heaven.

If anything, adding religion to your life gives you respect, manners, and personal growth and erases your fear of death.

An erased fear of death comes in handy when you detonate your explosive vest or fly a jet into the side of a building at 400 mph.

... Infact, the bible says whenever there is 2 (or 3 I forgot) there I am also. Which means to me that you don't need a church at all.

The bible says a lot of things. The bible says that after you run someone through with the sword you should throw their children against the rocks. The bible is repulsive. http://youtube.com/watch?v=vkXOwBIRX7Y

You can pray, worship, or do whatever you want in the comfort of your own home if you wished. So no one is forcing you to do or think anything. If you feel this 'pressure' that might be your own self that hates the fact that perhaps you are not in control of your life? Think of Religion as a form of mediation, relaxation, comfort, stress reliever, eliminates fear of bills, relationships, death, beating addictions etc etc. Religion used for growth is a wonderful thing, but used in the wrong hands for money, power, or high horse ego is another thing.
I.e. using God to beat Crack and getting out of a gang = Good
Using God to cause a Holy War and murder innocents = Bad
ofcourse everyone pretends the good does not exist and only see the bad. If something helps someone isnt it worth it? I mean if Presciption drugs for depression work for people would you want to stop them? So if Religion or this false God works for people to remain sane or support their families isnt it worth it? So I wouldn't bash any religion or God if it helps people

Nobody is trying to take away christians' freedom of religion. That's a myth. I'd argue that taking "IN GOD WE TRUST" off the currency in this country actually protects our religious freedoms.
I understand that many people think they are helped by religion. I know that for some people there is great comfort in relinquishing control and surrendering to jesus. I know they will swear that this works for them and there are positive results from this. I do not deny any of the positive results from these delusions or mass hysteria.
In truth, there are many things that people can do for themselves which do not include faith in bronze age mythology that will help them through tough times. You mentioned meditation - it's a great example. But even if there were no other options, it's better to know the universe as it really is than to persist in a delusion, no matter how comforting it may be. C'est la vie.
