That's not as bad as " rediculous". Every time I see that in the HW's I wish I had a stab button on my keyboard.

I've heard that one a lot too, and it always pisses me off. I dated a girl that always said that, "I pacifically got the dressing on the side." My reply was always something like "Pacifically? WTF does this have to do with the ocean?" Then she'd get pissed for me correcting/making fun of her.

Yeah, this gets thrown around a ton. I think most people do it purposely though

One that annoys the shit out of me is "I'm setting a president!"
Really? Setting a 'George Dubya'?
I THINK YOU MEAN PRECEDENT.
(and breathe..!)

I feel all of your pain as I recognize much of what you all are saying and here's mine:
People who think that Mano a Mano means Man to Man. It means hand to hand as in hand to hand combat.

The saying is : I could care less.
Its the Americanised version of the old English saying "I couldn't care less" which is a saying to demonstrate that something matters so little to you that you are incapable of giving any less consideration or care to the matter, hence, I couldnt care less. A demonstration of pure apathy to a scenario or issue or whatever.
However, "I could care less", which is used for the same purpose of demonstrating apathy towards something and that you are incapable of caring any less about it, makes no sense whatsoever and is actually a totally redundant comment. If you are capable of caring less or you could care less, than what is the point of saying it? "I am capable of caring less about subject X", ok, so how does that relate to expressing apathy?
Folks, the saying is "I couldn't care less," the version many of you use makes no sense in the terms its used in.
That is all.
|
I think it's supposed to be sarcastic. I say I could care less, but really couldn't.

2 examples
- "How did you do on your test?" "I could have done worse"
- "How did you do on your test?" "I couldn't have done worse"
If you see a difference between those two examples, I think you have your answer.
