Is our Civilization on the brink of ruin?

Seriously...

I'm 35 and have pretty much seen everything. I've seen our society go from being pretty uptight and straight-laced to where it is now.

Anyway, last night I went over to my buddy's and we had a fire and beers in his back yard. His girl-friend is actually quite well brought up, though from a single mother, she was a church kid and had a lot of positive influences in her life. The two of them have a couple of little girls together.

So anyway, earlier in the evening I call his cell and his gf answers with a "Hi Sexy!" She flirts with me, and though I'd like to bang the shit out of her I never would as she's my buddy's girl (no matter that she's hot). Regardless, she tells me they're having the fire-pit and I know that my buddy's 50ish mom is going to be there too visiting from out of town.

SOO, I get there, and his brother's girl-friend is there too (he's at work). We're sitting around the fire and my buddy's girl-friend pulls up with Katy Perry's song "I kissed a Girl" blaring from their Charger. She gets out of the car all dancing to the song and pumped about it saying that she loves it. Next thing I know my buddy's mom says, "Yeah, I have 2 of her CDs...I love that song too - I always listen to it!" The conversation goes on and on. The brother's gf is a slut who's had a couple of kids from different relationships and says that her young daughter found one of her new bf's pornos...Basically I was just disgusted after awhile with all the chicks in the crowd. They all seemed like lesbians/sluts waiting to happen.

Bottom line...Yeah, seeing 2 chicks making out is a turn-on in a horny moment. But, do I want my friends un-hot mom and every chick I know singing and listening to Katy Perry and being sluts? I looked at the little girls running around (their kids) and I thought, what the hell are they going to grow up to be and what society are they going to live in? I don't even know if I want to hang around with that crowd anymore.

Then you see all the youth violence out there and general disrespect for one another, and it just feels like the morality of our world is in the toilet (don't even get started on the internet).

Anyone else feel this way?

I don't think the conclusion readily follows from your observations -- unless you think your friend's mom/gf/etc are exactly representative of all women, your observations suffer from low statistics.

Unfortunately I do happen to think that civilization is turning into a POS, based on similar experiences to yours. =/

yeap I think about it alot. I'm only 20 and I can only image what it will be like in 15 to 20years.

I just don't see things turning around...It's just got worse and worse. The internet is a cess-pool.
