I would think at a traditional university it would be easier, since you have hundreds of students all in the same area learning the same material. For online classes, there might only be 20 people in your class that are scattered all across the world. I don't think it would be as easy to find someone willing to help you cheat.
In the traditional university, many classes (although certainly not all) are small enough for a professor to remember students. So, you'd have to find somebody who is willing to show up on lectures for you (they often take attendance). It will cost you more money, so fewer people would be willing to go this route.

While there are more people who are capable of taking the class for you, many would report you if you approach and try to "recruit" them. They are risking their own degree if they get caught taking tests for you. The above does not hold for online colleges, for obvious reasons.

Also, for online courses, you are not limited to the people around you. You can find somebody from around the globe to take a test for you (for some subjects easier than for others).

There are many more ways in which you can get caught cheating in a traditional college than online. Of the top of my head, I cannot see how you can get caught online, other than if your scores for homeworks are lower than your test scores. And even then it is not a hard evidence against you.

That's a good system.
Lubaolong, is that also what you were doing?

No. CLEP tests are CLEP tests, not distance learning.

Engineering....no way can online classes be better then traditional school.
I'd agree with that 100%, there is almost no way you'd pass engineering without a prof to help. Not to mention the loss of lab time which generally was 50% of my time at school.

His is through the online learning network or something.

Basically I think his first 45-60 hours are CLEP (basics like psychology, biology, speech, math, etc) then I think after that is the distance learning.

If anyone is interested in what he does I could find out more.

I am glad to hear that as I am goign to be starting my MBA on line at either CTU or Penn State. Most colleges now either offer on-line degrees or will over the next 10 years. I think in 30 years that is all you will have. Plus it's pure profit for them almost.

No way traditional schooling will go away for higher education. For me and my ADD self I could not do online learning.

Also some degrees there is no way online learning would be possible (not that I could see). You still miss out on other important things universities offer besides material offered in books.

The university I attended, had all the course information online and had video, written and audio of the lectures available too, so you could get away with not turning up to lectures although you had to turn up to seminars. How much do online courses cost and what courses are on offer?

I've been interested in online learning for years but any courses that I have been interested in would have required me to attend the school for a final exam. I haven't really checked into it lately, does anybody know if this is still the case? Traveling is somewhat of an issue for me right now.

i've done a few online courses through my university and thought they were great. for a lot of courses you just really don't need to be in a classroom.
