Comcast sort of sucks.
So, because I'm not a "veteran (6 months and 300 posts) and I'm not enraged I thought this was the best place to post this. So, I moved about a year ago and have always had satellite telivision because I lived in the country. Now that I'm in a city (and not enjoying it) I ended up with Comcast cable and internet.
When I tried to buy UFC 82 with my remote it said the event had been ordered. When the event started, it said that I had to call. One hour into the event I finally got through to an operator. I explained that I was paying $40 for an event that was half over and that it didn't seem fair that i had to pay full price. They said that the cable box was to blame so they replaced it for free.
Come UFC 84, what before hand looked to be one of the best UFC events of all time, I again ordered with my remote - and again it told me it had been ordered successfully. Ten buddies came over and when the event started, it said that I had to call again. I called immediately. While I was on hold I watched the play-by-play online until the Silva/Jardine fight began...this was how many minutes into the event?? At this point all of my friends called with their cell phones. Sure enough all of them got through to a customer service rep before I did, despite the fact that my call was placed hours before them.
I talked to them on the first phone that got through and they told me that I could still get it (this was 3 rounds into the Ortiz/Machida fight) for full price. I explained that I was only buying about 5% of the product, maybe I could pay less or get the replay for free, they said they could again do nothing. I was pretty angry.
i wrote a letter to customer service - a scathing letter - explaining what had happened, looking for some sort of compensation, or anything for that matter...an apology would have been nice. They instead replied that I had not been charged for the event and that they looked forward to my service in the future.
Then today comes the straw that, despite how small, broke the camel's back. After Rampage Jackson knocked out the "most dominate champion in UFC history, the greatest light-heavyweight of all time, and the most recognized fighter in the world" the comcast sports section of the comcast homepage listed nothing. BJ Penn destroys two opponents in a row...nothing. GSP dominates Matt Serra and regains his title in the UFC's first Canadian PPV...not a peep. But when Rampage, the man who got no recognition for winning his title, got arrested, they had a headline. The had another headline to announce it was at gunpoint, and a third to show the photos. Once Jackson got a psych eval they had another headline.
I'm all for freedom of the press, but I also support freedom of choice, and as of today, my Comcast is canceled. They can screw me, and they can screw my friends. But too many people have trained too many hours and invested too much money into Mixed Martial Arts to make it what it is today, for Comcast sports to ignore the high points and cash in on the low.
Hey Comcast, screw you buddy.
