Those WW2 heros's lives are something out of a movie, or epic novel, it's amazing that they've gone through so much and came out in one piece. It makes me sad to know that with each passing day, fewer and fewer of them will be around, and today's youth doesn't care to remember their deeds and sacrifices.

"Jose M. Lopez"

Killed 100 Germans during the Battle of the Buldge.

Medal of Honor Winner Jose M. Lopez Dies at 94

In the 1960s, he joined the Army and became a paratrooper, Drum said, to conquer his fear of heights. On a training jump, both of his parachutes failed.

"He was the last one out of the airplane and the first one on the ground," Drum said.
Lol, he tried to conquer his fear of heights, and both his parachutes failed. And somehow he lived.

"When he saw the German Tiger tank come into sight and the horde of German foot soldiers around it, he thought of dozens of his men just a few hundred yards away. Aiming at the soldiers around the tank, he killed 10 of them. That prompted the Tiger tank to fire rather recklessly in his direction. It took three shell blasts to knock Sgt. Lopez over, and he suffered a concussion."

Holy crap. These dudes make me feel a bit inadequate, If I'm being honest.

I was a soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne, and the legacy of the men who came before us was always something that motivated us. They were impossible legends to live up to, but it gave us an ideal and an identity to aspire to. God bless all these guys.

I guess that's why they're known as 'The Great Generation'

Survived the Great Depression to kick Imperialist Japan and Hitler's ass. Came back home and opened a Burger King.

the decay of the US society doesn't have anything to do with burger king. for fear of being banned, though, i won't get into the specifics.
