Noob computer question about internal harddrives

So I put an extra internal harddrive in my computer a while back. I want to put it in another computer. Will my data get erased if I remove that harddrive from my old computer?

Not unless you hot swap it or plug it in wrong. Unplug the computer first... If its a boot drive it probably wont boot though. You need to do a fresh install for a boot drive.

No, the data won't be lost. The only problem would be that the drivers on the old harddrive might conflict with the drivers necessary to run the hardware in another computer. Which basically means you might want to do a quick windows update to be up to speed.

(to get more geeky about it, a harddrive stores data with magnets and that type of data is impossible to erase even if it sits in or out your comp for years)

No TS your data is safe, although I would mildly disagree w/ the poster above me. Trust me, NO hard drive is impossible to erase (although for casual/home user purposes he is right)

Dunk your harddrive in water and it will sure erase.

But if you aren't an asshole, yes, it will be fine to move it around.

Also, I wouldn't put it near powerful electromagnets.

no but if it has the OS installed you might have driver issues since the other comp will have different hardware.

but if it just has files should have no problem .
