Is my pay any good?

I've been working in a retail store as an overnight stocker. I've been there for 3 years and I make $10.45 per hour. My fourth year starts on March 5 and my pay will go up to $11.05. What do you guys think? For this type of work is my pay average? Better than average?

dude, i made more than you my first week as a pizza delivery guy. unless there's something stopping you, you could get a new job in no time that pays at least 50% more than that job.

Like what? I want to do something where I don't have to deal with people and don't need a college degree.

Don't worry about how much you earn compared to other people.

One thing I've noticed, having entered the workforce only recently, is how people seem so driven by how much they earn. I've had a friend ask me how much I earn, bluntly. I don't know about you but to me, that is a really rude thing to do. Is it supposed to be some sort of measuring stick? Is someone who earns more than me a better person? Why is it even important?

My view, if you are living comfortably enough and looking after your responsibilities, then you have enough. More is always nice, but I hate the whole dick measuring contests that some people try and pull by asking you how much you earn, or what job you do, or bragging about how much they make.

Further questions: How large is the store you work for? Do you have to use forklift or do you do everything by hand? Also, how old are you?

The store is very big, mass retail. I don't use a forklift, everything is by hand. I was offered to be taught how to use the fortlift, but the company gives no extra money for it, so I declined. I'm 24.

I don't know how it is in the US, but over here a qualified forklift driver can earn 25-30 dollars an hour, and are generally in demand.

If I were to give some advice, take them up on the offer of free training.
