well the problem with PS3 is that the flagship titles are all coming out at around the same time like 6 months from now.
In a year or so I think it'll really take off.
That's when i'll get one. it'll be a bit cheaper too.

Yeah this is when I plan on getting one as well.
If you can't wait, then I'd go for an xbox360.....just my opinion.

I'd say it's best to wait on all three, if you can't wait then 360 is probably the best way to go. Here's my take on each.
Nintendo Wii - Lots of fun for everyone to play. Nintendo really hit the spot with Wii Sports, anyone and everyone around a Nintendo Wii will pick it up in 2 minutes and have alot of fun to play. The design scheme really forces developers to experiment with what works and what doesn't, which will probably bear fruit in an year or so with some great titles. Right now, there aren't that many titles coming out and alot of them are still figuring out how best to utilize the control scheme. The past three months and this next three will probably be a bit of a drought.
Xbox 360 - Great all around console with plenty of action titles to choose from. Not much standout games have come out from non-FPS genres other than Oblivion, but that should change in the summer with all the new titles in the pipeline like Mass Effect. If you're willing to shell out 50 bucks an year, the online experience is the best you will get on a console right now. The overheating/failure is the highest among all three consoles, which is to be expected because Microsoft is a soft-ware centered company. It might be better to wait for the Elite version if you want a bigger HD and HDMI connection though. But, and correct me if I'm wrong, nothing really takes advantage of HMDI except the HD-DVD drive add-on which will set you back another 200 bucks. Either way, I would wait for the Elite and a possible price drop but it's the best purchase you can make right now imo.
PS3 - System with tons of potential and a hell of a hardware. Comes with free solid online play, which is great if you want to just plug and play without having to pay extra anything. Non-game online components like the store and demos need a ton of work compared to Live. There are some great games out already like Resistance, Motorstorm, and VF5, which isn't too shabby for a system that's only been out for 5 months or so. There are more in the pipeline such as MGS4 and FFXIII. There are rumors of those going multi-platform though, so if those games are your main thing I'd wait and see if they'd pop up on the 360. It's not only one of the cheapest Blu-ray players available, it's also the best according to many HD-centric website reviews. Price is obviously a huge concern. If you do want everything that comes with the system (HDD, online play, Blu-ray, HDMI) then it's a tremendous value. If you don't care about Blu-ray or the HDD, then maybe you should go for a 360 core or something cheaper. I'd personally hold out for a price drop and some more games to come out, since I don't have an HD TV anyways. Also, God of War 3 will bring back Rumble for the controllers so that's another thing to think about.
Me personally, I'm probably gonna buy a PS3 simply because Sony is my favorite developer along with Capcom right now. God of War 2, Shadows of the Colossus, and Resistance are 3 of the 5 favorite games I played in the last year or so (others inclue Okami, Guitar Hero series). Capcom is leaning more towards the 360 though, so we'll see how things turn out. That's a big reason for me to wait too.
