My parents are well off. We we're struggling when I was younger but in my late teens the company my Dad started began doing very well (similar to your story).

We still do everything the same. Aside from moving to a larger house we live very frugally compared a lot of other people we know that have much less money.

I'll give you this piece of advice. Take advantage of all the educational opportunities that his wealth provides you. This will prove it's importance down the road.

One thing I've always kept in mind is that as someone living in a country with a descent economy we should always strive to move a rung or two up the ladder from the place which we started.

Lol do your own thing and invest the inheritance. At least you don't have to worry about college.

What are you going to do? Wait around until your 50 when your dad keels over? Screw that. Plus, you never know what the future holds. You might not get any money. And no matter how much you have, you'll always want more. I would be busting my ass regardless.

i wouldn't get too comfortable just because the old man has a couple million lbs in the bank. that's nice but not exactly the type of shit you'd wanna hedge your own bets on.

It's never a good idea to wait on the inheritance. I've seen a few people try and one died before her parents.

I think the term "loaded" is a relative. There is some American dude whose "Daily" income in 2007 was in the range of US$200M working for some hedge fund investment group. 1.5M pound is not a lot of money after buying a house suitable for a family in any decent urban area and starting a business. So spend it wisely.
