Nearly every uber-privileged rich kid Ive ever known has been seriously screwed up with a lot of personal issues. Money definitely does not buy happiness IMO.

I really don't want to sound mean, but my husband and I scrimp and scrape just to pay bills. I really hate to hear about someone wanting advice on how to find motivation to be a self-sufficient, because your father is doing very well, and you are counting on an inheritance. Things could really be worse. Find a legitimate problem, and work on that.

Whatever you do don't attempt to invest it on your own, go to a broker so you don't lose it all. That is the best advice to anyone with money really.
