For some reason a few days ago, my new computer started slowing down. It takes a bit longer to boot and load programs than it used to. But the worse part is that when I play videos or movies, it breaks, jumps and pauses frequently. I have no idea what's doing this.

I checked for spyware and viruses but didn't find any. Another thing that's weird is that when I play company of heroes, the game closes and exits to windows whenever I press the keyboard in-game. So I have to play using my mouse only. This happened around the same time the comp started slowing down.

Yeah I think it's more likely due to Spyware. Try to reformat it if you can. If you can hear a loud noise from the hard drive that's trying to load data, then it might be the hard drive issues.

I checked for spyware twice and I killed the only one I found. I'll try defragging it.

Get a really good firewall (I have zonealarms) and turn it up to the highest setting. It blocks absolutely everything except what you want, and constantly runs tests and things to get rid of trojan horses and spyware. Sounds like the problem.
