Multi Region DVD Players?

I know this is not the ideal forum to ask things like this, but some of you guys seem to be pretty smart so I'm giving it a shot!

My brother has just gone to live in the states with his wife & has e-mailed saying that he's just bought a dvd player &, as he has a few UK dvd's, he would like to know how to make it multi-region.

He bought a Toshiba MD24F52, which I have found out is a combo TV/DVD player, but I can't see how to make it multi-region. I have a feeling he cant do it cos of the TV being NTSC (region 2 being PAL), but I could be wrong.

Any of you guys know if it's possible?

he should be able to find an unlock code on the net, there are some really good websites out there it just takes some searching

as to whether it will play PAL on an NTSC TV, it depends on whether the combi unit has an option in its setup that allows him to change the DVD output from PAL to NTSC.

I've a feeling there are compatibility issues with playing PAL on NTSC TVs though, and as it's a combi one they tend to have cheapo dvd functionality anyways.

If he has an HDTV I recommend the Zenith DVB 318. It's region free, and can upconvert through componenet or DVI cables.

I bought an old Sony (I've had it for about 5 years) and I can play both NTSC and Pal format DVD's. I buy PAL DVD's off of eBay all the time.
