Moving to pursue a dream?

Hey there all sherdoggers, I am a long time reader and first time poster ( I decided to sign up instead of being lazy) So hello to you all

Anyway I was wondering if any of you have moved to a different city to pursue a dream? (ie: work? education? or anything else)

I have been thinking that I want to move to a bigger city (Toronto) so that I can train at a gym with high level teaching and fighters. I think if I do this I will progress to a much better level and be able to fight a couple times a year. The city im in right now just doesn't have that many gyms, or should I say reputable gyms like London ON, and Toronto ON.

Im 19 years old and am still thinking about heading off to university for my criminology degree but latley iv been thinking about pursuing MMA to a higher level and I mean I could always go back to school right? Iv had one fight already in which I lost by cut, but been training for the past 2 years, I started with wrestling in grade 9 in which I lasted 4 years and on my senior year I won provincials for my weight class, Eventually moving on to bjj and training muay thai on a regular basis. I feed the urge to do this and give it my best shot I mean if I don't make it hey I tried right?

Thanks everybody for their input and comments I appreciate it!

You're better off playing it safe and then years from now, telling your grandkids that you had a dream at one point.

I lol'd

Seriously though, don't hesitate to move, you're part of one of the first generations that can really move freely and easily anywhere on this planet to live and work, take advantage of it. I'm 22, already moved from where I'm born to Montreal a couple years ago for school and plan on moving to another country when I'm done with school, I would find it pretty depressing to have been born, raised, have lived and died in the same country.

You can always move back if you don't like it!

i want to move to montreal. did you speak any french when you moved, and if not, how is it adjusting living there without knowing the language?

and yeah i agree about living in the same place all your life. i have friends that were born and live here in orange county, and dont necessarily want to stay here forever, but have absolutely no desire to move anywhere. fuckin sad

Would you rather have a cauliflower ear with a story to tell when you're old, or melancholy and only cautionary tale? Go 100% or don't go at all.

You should do it. Especially because you are young, you have no commitments and can dedicate yourself completely to it. I wish I understood this when I was younger, because I pissed away too many years of my youth doing nothing in the town I grew up in. I may even move to Toronto soon, for other reasons, and start training again there.
