Most obscure "name that film" request ever

Seeing as this is where people occasionally regurgitate half-remembered movie scenes and beg they be indentified, I have one that's been bugging me for years. I caught this scene on late night TV once and would love to know what the hell it is. All I know is it might be something to do with aliens, and is quite obscure (nothing like the Tommyknockers or Fire in the Sky or anything - more of a B-movie)...

An old man is stumbling through the tunnels of what might be the alien space ship, which is buried underground. A bright, floating ball of blue-white light then appears and floats infront of his face, studying him. The old guy is terrified and falls to the floor. The light then somehow drains all his fluids out, leaving a dessicated husk. In the next shot you see many balls of light, floating out into the night towards a small town....

I don't really expect anyone to get it, but there it is. Anyone got the vaguest of ideas?

Name that scene

You might check over at:

http://www.badmovies.org/ in the b-Movie reviews section.

That scene almost sounded like something from lifeforce, but that's not it.

Sounds like the end of a Stephen King movie to me.

"Cocoon"?

I'm still looking for the trailer for a "Freaked!" sequel on the House II double pack VHS.

Nope, nothing close so far. It looked to be from the late 70's or 80's, in the vein of a Steven King movie, not a comedy-horror or anything like that as far as I could tell.

Looks to be a job for imdb. But christ, those forums are shitty.
