Which is more powerful, pc games or video game consoles?
I always wondered which is more powerful and has better graphics, etc. Modern PC games with the best computer or video game consoles like PS3.
Some told me PS3 is way stronger then the best PC game. Others said PC games are stronger but are much more expensive and upgradeable. Which is it??

It swings back and forth as new consoles are released.
Right now im pretty sure xbox360/ps3 will be more powerful, but its only a matter of time until PC takes over again.
Then new consoles will be released and they will be more powerful, then again new hardware for pc is released.
In the end PC will always come out on top.

Based on your criteria, modern PC games with the best computer (graphics, ram, cpu) vs PS3...a PC wins.
The console systems use the same graphics card companies for their systems as PC's do (ATI and NVIDIA). The PS3 runs a 256 MiB which is good...but in a PC it's easy to slap in a 512 mb card, a 768 mb card, two 256's running in SLI (in unison), or if someone wanted to spend the money, they could run dual 768's...which would be insane for graphics but very expensive right now.
A 512 mb video card, or dual 256 mb cards for a PC are affordable these days so therefore I'd say PC > PS3.
Traditionally, I always remember PC games having better graphics than console.

It isn't so much a question of the hardware power itself, it is whether the game companies take full advantage of the available hardware. I would say right now, the new consoles have the advantage due to the hardware still being cutting edge and the developers know exactly what they are dealing with.
They do not need to scale for multiple graphic horsepower and resolution. They are able to concentrate on what is in the system (xbox 360, ps3) and use all the power that is available. Nothing on the PC touches Gears of War or Mass Effect for graphics, but it will soon enough.

No, the PC will ALWAYS come out on top. By the time PS3 and 360 launched, the GPUs they carry are already last-gen compared to the top of the line videocards.

Direct X 10 is on the way.....or is it here?
It will blow away any of the current consoles.

DX10 is here, sort of. I mean it is in Vista and the newest nVidia card supports it (but with some bugs I hear) but I don't know how many games have been patched to use DX10 yet.
Oh, and my vote goes to PC games. It costs a whole lot more to get a top of the line PC gaming computer than it does even a next generation console, but the results will leave no doubt which is better. Plus, the control scheme of the comptuer is a lot better. Keyboard and mouse beat console controls any day.

Next gen systems are the most powerful at the time they come out, but PC graphics cards keep coming out with more and more powerful versions and soon surpass the systems, i believe there are already cards out now that surpass the XB 360 and PS3.

PC's, but I do agree with boardo that the software companies do take full advantage of the hardware in consoles. The last game I've had on my computer was ViceCity, and it was shitty compared to the PS2 version (or even the PSP version).
