I am American but studied abroad in Australia for 6 months, primarily living in Sydney.
In my experience Australian women were friendlier and easier than American women, but there were not as many hotties as you would find in a major American city like NYC or Miami. Also, there is a fair amount of anti-American sentiment among some Aussies, though that may have been exacerbated by the fact that I was there during the start of the Iraq war. Interestingly, if you start talking to an Aussie and they hear your accent they will almost always ask you if you are Canadian first because Canadian people get really offended if someone asks if they are American.
As far as where to go, I would spend as little time in the cities as possible. The best part about Australia is its natural beauty. If you must stay in a city I would say go for Sydney. Check out Bondi and Manli beaches, the Opera House, the Taronga Zoo (very good zoo and great views of the city), royal botanic gardens, walk the harbour bridge, go out drinking in the Rocks, etc.
2 weeks is a short amount of time to see Australia, btu if your there you should definitely see the outback and Uluru (formerly known as Ayer's Rock). And of course you must go scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. My favorite place in Australia though was Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands. It's a more or less empty island with a beach of pure white sand like baby powder. There are a lot of sailing trips that go around the islands and stop on Whitehaven Beach. I highly recommend.
Whatever you decide to do, do a lot of research and schedule things well because you never know if you'll have the chance to go back.
