Might get laid off tonight
I work night shift at Intel as an equipment technician where I fix, maintain, and operate the semiconductor equipment that makes the Intel CPU's in your computer. They're doing some big layoffs here at the New Mexico site and this is one of the final phases. About 1500 people will lose their job when all is said and done here out of about 3500 people that were here before the layoffs. In about an hour they will start calling us one by one to let us know if we got "placed" or not. Wish me luck!

Good luck mate.
Thats a long walk, although if you've been there a while you'll get a big redundancy package Im sure which will tie you over while you look for more work. Plus, the reference they give you will be fine as you were fired as such.

Hope for the best prepare for the worst.
I worked for Ford for 6 years got laid off a year ago. They closed the plant here in St.Louis.
about 2000 people out of work just at the plant not including the suppliers.

Honestly I think a lot of the time the "steadiness" of just having a job makes us complacent. If we all actively searched for a job while currently employed, I think we'd be surprised at the opportunities out there.
