Mercedes To Phase Out Gasoline By 2015
In less than 7 years, Mercedes-Benz plans to ditch petroleum-powered vehicles from its lineup. Focusing on electric, fuel cell, and biofuels, the company is revving up research in alternative fuel sources and efficiency.
I mean, wow, sounds like a bold plan. But can they reall pull it off?

Please don't make this some push for E85 ethanol, that stuff is a huge corn lobby scam that is not efficient to produce.

I wonder how this is going to affect all the current Mercedes employees. Do they fire their engineers and technicians? Do they send them back to school?

I´m sure that to get a job at Mercedes-Benz you need to be skilled enough to know your way around more than just a gasoline/diesel engine. This company has consistently been the main innovator in all things automobile-related for decades. __________________

we can definitely figure out this alternative fuel problem, we just need to start offering the right incentives
