Mayberry posters - Who is your favorite MMA fighter of all time and why?

Mine is Saku. Just love the guy, he inspired me to get into the sport and has had some of the most exciting bouts ever (for there time). So for me its the great man himself. So I pay tribute to him here with this post

I have a hard time picking just one. But I have to go wtih The Iceman. I think he's one of the most exciting fighters, devastating striker, and he will fight anyone. I have never met him but from what I've see, he seems like a cool laid back guy.

SAkuraba no doubt, as everybody else I first saw Royce do his thing and got hooked many years ago, then when SAkuraba came along well....

Sakuraba
Fedor
GSP = I have not been as excited I was for GSP Hughes II ever before a MMA fight

I am a sucker for all the judokas to as you might guess

Royce Gracie.

Watching him beat up guys twice the size of himself in the first few UFC's is what got me into the sport.

I think I've got to go with the OP's choice. It's a shame that the newer generation doesn't have the context of what he did during the late 90s. Against Conan, Vitor, Royler, Royce and Igor I thought he didn't have a chance. It doesn't seem as impressive now but that was a hell of a run (although things like beating Rampage who was considered a gimme fight look better).

I always liked Hermes Franca, too. He's a guy that alwyas goes for the finish and I've been following him ever since he beat a training partner of mine on a small show in West Virginia. It's always cool in any sport to be one of the first guys to say "that dude is going to be good".

Choosing one is damn near impossible so:

Sak
Fedor
GSP
Igor
SUDO!!! (No one else mentioned him yet, so I put his name in capslock because he rocks)

Yeah Hermes is such a great character and one hell of a fighter. His UFC fight against Rich Crunkleton is one hell of a fight, and he has been in soooo many great fights since. If I was to go with a current fighter however, it would be this guy:

I was at CageRage to see this:

Imanari!!!!!
